On November 9, 2012, girls ages 8-13 participated in a free workshop about what they need to know to start or develop a small business. They learned about the business of making and selling products, sourcing, setting prices, merchandising, marketing and more.
Then, they go pitch!
Graduates of the workshop will present their product lines and merchandising ideas for a pop-up shop on bustling Roscoe Street! 5 young entrepreneurs will be offered space to sell their wares at The Wishcraft Workshop (just in time for the holidays!) The young entrepreneurs are asked to save 1/3 of their profits, donate 1/3 and use the other 1/3 however they wish. The pitch takes place Sunday, Nov 18 2pm-4pm at The Wishcraft Workshop 2312 W. Roscoe St. and is by invitation only for graduates of the November 9 workshop. Girls interested in participating in the next round are encouraged to watch for news from CRUSH on Roscoe and The Wishcraft Workshop announcing the next free educational workshop to be scheduled for early 2013.
CRUSH is an apparel boutique for girls, boys, and women, filled with basic and trendsetting looks. This collaboration between The Wishcraft Workshop and CRUSH continues their work together to build confidence in girls that started with the summer of 2012. Wishcraft summer-campers had run of the store as they learned about fashion, accessories, styling and merchandising. With the guidance of fashion-industry expert and the Wishcraft Workshop's Founder, Candice Blansett-Cummins, along with the super-hip and fun team at CRUSH, campers learned, played and ultimately saw their merchandising handiwork displayed CRUSH's shop window on Roscoe Street.
