Nov. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- A multimedia pictorial book of Venice for iPad in the iBookstore, as well as in generic EPUB and printed versions has just been published by professional writer/photographer David C. Phillips.

More than 300 carefully selected, high quality, artistic photos, five videos and maps of Venice, along with accurate identification and headings make this book a valuable and beautiful portrayal of the ancient, wonderful and unique city and its surroundings.

The book is divided into sections, covering the main attractions of Venice such as St. Mark’s Square with its Basilica and the Doge’s Palace, views of the church of Santa Maria della Salute seen from the Accademia Bridge, the outlying islands of Murano, the center of Venetian glass, and Burano with its multicolored houses and its lace. But there are also many views of the not so frequented or famous parts of Venice, beautiful photographs of the canals, the buildings and the people that make Venice what it is.

A whole section of the the book is devoted to the extraordinary reflections which are visible everywhere but which take a photographer’s eye to spot and an artist’s skill to capture and to show them for what they are – almost abstract art in many cases. Gondolas and gondoliers, bridges, all kinds of boats from the vaporetti or water buses, the treghetti or small passenger ferries which cross the Grand Canal, to FedEx delivery boat, the builder’s barge replete with wheelbarrow and bricks, the police, fire and ambulance boats and the other traffic that is the other side of Venice not usually seen in the postcards and travel books.

For those who have not visited Venice, this book is designed to provide a real world view not usually found in the travel guides and books. They will see what they can expect to see when they visit Venice. Photographers will get an idea of the wealth of subject matter available for any level of photographer. Venice Images & Reflections will confirm any desire to visit the wonderful city and help remove any doubt about what is there to see, without spoiling in any way the surprises that wait in store. For those who have visited Venice, the book will provide all the memories which perhaps they were unable to capture, or at least unable to capture with such art and skill and beauty. For those who simply love great photography, this book is a visual feast.

Venice Images & Reflections is best viewed on an iPad with a retina display. It includes the full multimedia features which are available to books constructed with iBooks Author. But the photos are all there in the generic EPUB version and do not lose anything from the different format.

Venice – Images & Reflections is a multimedia book of over 300 stunning photos and video clips build in iBooks Author specifically for the iPad. It is available in the iBookstore https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/venice/id571836429?ls=1.

A generic EPUB version of the book (without the video) for viewing on any computer, tablet or mobile device which will accept EPUB books is available at Blurb http://store.blurb.com/ebooks/p229c0dd66223373340d2 and a 260 page printed book can be ordered http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3636376.

A very generous sample of the iBook can be downloaded from the iBookstore and the other versions can all be previewed in depth at the links listed above.
