“If everyone read this book, fewer people would get lost in the woods,” says Terry. Designed as an introductory guide to tracking animals and humans through any environment, the book is as much about promoting getting outdoors and paying attention to your impact on the environment as it is about stalking prey.
Self-publishing, with the assistance of FriesenPress, has allowed Terry and Nadine to donate more dollars from the sale of every book to Scouts Canada and other organizations that promote and respect wilderness pursuits. “We turned down a deal from a big Canadian publisher because the industry royalty rate is real low,” says Terry. “If we didn't self-publish with FriesenPress, we wouldn't have been able to donate anything.”
FriesenPress Director Author Services Tammara Kennelly says, “It has been a pleasure to work with Nadine and Terry to produce a beautiful book with more dollars going towards supporting such a great cause. We hope more authors will take advantage of this unique opportunity that self publishing offers.”
About the Authors and Publisher:
Terry Grant was the face of the hit television show Mantracker for six seasons. His reputation as a tracker led him to training British soldier to become more track aware. Terry's post-Mantracker life includes working as a search and rescue volunteer in Alberta, teaching tracking courses around the world, crafting custom furniture and staying true to his cowboy roots.
Nadine Robinson is a freelance writer and newspaper columnist from Ontario. Mantracking is the first book she has co-authored. Nadine equates the experience to learning to ride a dirt bike—a little uncomfortable and a lot of fun.
