Cheer Channel Held First Casting Call For Secret Diary Of An American Cheerleader, Season 2

Nov. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- November 13, 2012, Austin, Texas…) Cheer Channel Inc. hosted the first casting call for Season 2 of Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader. The casting call was held Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 12 pm to 5 pm at the Austin Film Studios. The casting call sought out 4 principal lead actors who may have some cheer or dance experience, as well as real cheerleaders who can act and be featured extras or background in key scenes for the series.  Cheerleaders came from all over Texas to be a part of this casting call. This was the first of a series of nationwide open casting sessions that are being held at various cheer events in different states including California, North Carolina, Maryland, and Florida.

Cheer Channel brought in Beth Sepko as the casting director for the second season of Secret Diary. Sepko has worked with ABC and the CW and has done casting for major television series including Friday Night Lights, The Lying Game, and Dallas, as well as major motion pictures Machete, Sin City, The Rookie, Spy Kids, Spy Kids 2 and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. Sepko is the owner of Beth Sepko Casting and Third Coast Extras casting agency in Austin.  “There is a terrific talent pool in Austin and surrounding cities for teen and young adult actors, and cheerleader roles are always fun to cast, since Texas is really the cheerleading capitol of the world”, said Sepko. “It’s not unusual to find actors, both guys and girls, that have done some all-star or high school cheerleading”.

Although Secret Diary of An American Cheerleader was shot in Los Angeles, California in the spring of this year, Lance Robbins, Executive Producer of the series decided to film season 2 in Austin, Texas. “Austin has such an outstanding and cooperative film community with great facilities and talented crew, not to mention fantastic cheer gyms and beautiful outdoor locations that will give us a fresh and unique look for a series like this,” said Robbins.

‘Secret Diary’ is the first webseries targeting cheerleaders and fans of shows with cheerleading as a backdrop, also using current and former all-stars and Superstars of the industry as actors and guest stars. Secret Diary 2: “Someone is Always Watching” is poised to deliver even more drama and cheer action than Season One, which has earned more than 1.1 million views to date from various platforms.

Both Seasons of the hit web-series will expand beyond the CCI website and YouTube Channels to being available for viewing on DISH satellite network television as well as various mobile platforms.
