Culinary School's Restaurant, "Test Kitchen" Opens
SCOTTSDALE, AZ Classic Cooking Academy has hosted both recreational and professional students yearning for culinary education since opening in 2006. Now, the doors swing open next door to the Academy with “The Test Kitchen”. The restaurant is located in North Scottsdale at 10411 E. McDowell Mountain Ranch Rd., in Desert Canyon Shopping Center. The restaurant will serve as an ideal place for Valley residents to get weekend dinners.
Chef Lou Swartz is at the helm with assistance from graduates and students from Classic Cooking Academy. Chef Lou has been fortunate enough to have worked at some of the finest restaurants in the valley such as Michael's at the Citadel, The Phoenician Resort and the Westin Kierland Resort.
Test Kitchen will follow the "local first" and "farm to the fork" concept by sourcing locally grown produce whenever possible. Kelly Saxer, owner or Desert Roots, a 25-acre vegetable farm in Queen Creek always looks forward to working with new restaurants in the area. She says, “We’re dedicated to providing our community with farm-fresh, pesticide-free vegetables. We harvest everything the day before we deliver so that our customers get the highest nutritional value and best flavor from our produce.” Other farms Test Kitchen works with include Maya’s Farm in Tempe for produce and Superstition Springs Farm in Mesa for dairy. “We are very excited to launch Test Kitchen; many restaurants talk about serving food from the farm to the table, but at Test Kitchen, we do it!” says Chef Pascal Dionot, owner of Classic Cooking Academy.
The menu is $50/person pre-fixed, with a selection to choose from three appetizers, entrees and desserts. Wine pairing can also be added for you with each course ($15/pp).
