"While we have local Macaroni Kid editions in many military communities, our national Macaroni Kid Military family edition is designed to help connect and enrich the national military community," explains Joyce Shulman, Macaroni Kid's CEO.
Macaroni Kid publishes hyper-local e-newsletters and websites featuring events and activities for kids and families in more than 450 communities across the country, as well as six national monthly publications:
“We are honored that Kamlyn has agreed to work with us as the Managing Editor of Macaroni Kid Military Family,” Joyce concluded.
Former Marine Kamlyn Jurgensen is now the mom of three and wife to a retired U.S. Marine Corps Major. She caught the writing bug early in life and pursued it while serving in the Marine Corps as a Combat Correspondent. The Marine Corps assigned her to the military’s Far East Network in Tokyo as a broadcast journalist where she worked in both radio and television. After leaving active duty, Kamlyn continued moving around the nation with her family.
“I know what it’s like to PCS every couple of years, to be the one left behind to take care of the kids, cars and house and all of the other adventures, pleasures, stresses and challenges that come along with being a military family,” Kamlyn says. “I’m thrilled to be able to help Macaroni Kid Military Family support and connect military families around the globe.”
Macaroni Military Family features monthly reviews of military bases and their neighboring communities, interviews with prominent Military Moms, holiday ideas, special military-focused deals and events, and other content of special interest to military families across the nation.
