PRLog - Nov. 13, 2012 - The weekend premiere of the first holiday film of the season, “Christmas in Compton” held at the Rave Baldwin Hills Theater in Los Angeles was star studded and based on audience and critic response, the film has the potential to be one of the most talked about holiday films of 2012.
Omar Gooding at the Christmas In Compton premiere
In addition to Gooding, in attendance were the film co-stars Keith David, and Miguel A. Nunez Jr. Also enjoying the festivities were Martin Lawrence, NBA Baller Baron Davis, actress KD Aubert (Friday After Next), Telma Hopkins, Karen Bankhead, Oba Babtunde and Orlando Brown were part of the sold out audience.
Christmas In Compton is a feel good movie that can be enjoyed by the entire family. The film opened in Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas and New Jersey on November 9th and has caught the attention of local and national media alike.
“If the plotline of "Christmas in Compton" were a tree, it would be dropping pine needles all over South Central. But with a first-rate cast led by Omar Gooding, Keith David and Sheryl Lee Ralph, generously funny dialogue and a supporting cast capable of crisp comic timing, writer-director David Raynr's feature is warm and likable enough to jumpstart the holiday movie season. The PG-13 rating aside, it feels like acceptable family fare and, with a push, could do across-the-board business.” Variety
“There is some fun to be had, thanks to such talented performers as Omar Gooding, and Keith David, whose character delivers a series of priceless comic diatribes about Kwanzaa, and Eric Roberts, whose years spent toiling in B-movies has prepared him to chew the scenery here with comic gusto. Also highly appealing are Sheryl Lee Ralph and Porscha Coleman as the father and son’s respective love interests.”
The Hollywood Reporter
“The creators used 'conscious film making' in creating the movie, and are challenging other productions to do the same.”
