PRLog - Nov. 13, 2012 - NEWARK, N.J. -- On Saturday, November 10, 2012, Toastmasters District 83 (Metropolitan New Jersey, Rockland County and Staten Island) held its Tall Tales and Table Topics Speech Contest at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport, 128 Frontage Road, Newark, NJ 07114. The speech contest was one of the highlights of the 1-day Fall Conference, which also featured special guests, Tammy A. Miller, DTM, Wendy Harding, DTM, and 6 educational workshops.
Toastmasters District 83 Tall Tales and Table Topics 2012 Speech Contest Winners
James Boyd won 1st Place in the Tall Tales Speech Contest. Julian Hernandez, scored for 2nd Place and John Carey secured 3rd Place. In the Table Topics Contest, Florence Halbert, earned the 1st Place trophy, while Ashley Wilson took 2nd Place and Kevin Thompson, of Keyport, NJ followed in 3rd Place.
Veronica Peralta stated, “This was my first time at the contest, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the Tall Tale Stories. The creativity was spectacular. There is nothing like a great story teller. Kudos to all.”
