PRLog - Nov. 13, 2012 - DUBAI MARINA, UAE -- Nearly 30 staff from the Copthorne Hotel Dubai joined the cause to save lives recently by participating in a Blood Donation Camp held at Dubai Blood Donation Centre of Dubai Health Authority located in Latifa Hospital. The call to save lives by donating blood got an overwhelming response from volunteers working at the hotel with 450ml of blood collected per donor.
Mr Alaa Salameh, General Manager, Copthorne Hotel Dubai, said, “We all enjoy the benefits of living in this society, therefore we should all fulfill our civic obligation. The pressure on blood stocks is always high. Hence every donation is critical. Thousands of lives can be saved in a year thanks to these blood donation camps and we are glad to support this noble cause.”
Blood collected at the various centres by DBDC is used for Thalassemia patients, road accident and burn victims, patients with neonates and maternity health complications, cases diagnosed with cancer or scheduled for open heart operations as well as all private health facilities within Dubai that are entitled for transfusion services.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Nadia Kalantar, Head of Marketing & Blood Donor Recruitment Unit, Dubai Blood Donation Centre said, “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all volunteers from Copthorne Hotel Dubai for their invaluable contribution to saving lives and to ensuring blood stocks meet hospital demands.”
Blood donation is one of the simplest ways you can save or improve a life – just one unit of blood can save three to four lives, and you can start donating from the age of 17. However, before donating blood it is important you are fit enough to do so.
