Follow on Google News | The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s "Light The Night" Event Rescheduled for 11/27 in Westchester, NYThe Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has rescheduled its Westchester County Light The Night® event for November 27 from 6 pm-9 pm at the Westchester County Center (198 Central Avenue) in White Plains, NY.
By: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society WHITE PLAINS, NY – The Westchester/ The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk funds lifesaving research and support for people battling cancer. Friends, families and co-workers form teams and millions of customers help by donating at retail outlets. These efforts culminate in inspirational, memorable evening walks in over two hundred communities each fall across North America. “We are grateful to the Westchester County Parks & Recreation staff for allowing us to reschedule our Light The Night Walk at the County Center,” said Dennis Chillemi, Executive Director of the Westchester/ Each Light The Night Walk has at least one Honored Patient, a local survivor of blood cancer to whom LLS pays tribute. This year’s Honored Patients include: eight-year-old Sabrina Marciante of South Salem, a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL); and Court Ingraham of Mahopac, a survivor of non-Hodgkin’ These Honorees are examples of the sobering reality that every four minutes in this country someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every ten minutes, someone dies from the disease. Despite the successful advances in medical research, leukemia still claims the lives of more children and young adults under the age of 20 than any other cancer.
