Ms. Schumacher earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Portland, Oregon, and acquired her Master of Business Administration degree from California State University Long Beach. For the last 10 years, she has worked in retirement community management, first as Director of Nursing, then Risk Manager, and finally as Executive Director of a not-for-profit CCRC in southern California. Previously, she served as a nurse for 17 years, including a position as lead and staff nurse at Torrance Memorial Medical Center in southern California, and later worked for seven years in her own geriatric care management firm.
Why did she choose Saratoga Retirement Community? “I was looking for a new challenge on a larger campus, one that would bring my family closer to our extended family in northern California,”
“We were impressed by Ms. Schumacher’s credentials and experience,”
Ms. Schumacher says, “I was very impressed that residents were so involved in the hiring process, as were the managers of all departments. I’ve liked everyone I’ve met at PRS and Saratoga Retirement Community, and from the beginning I’ve felt that comfortable feeling one experiences when you know that your skills and the community’s needs are a good match.”
