Leon Hendrix will be performing in honor of his brother’s historic birthday! Randy Hansen, the world’s greatest Hendrix tribute musician, and global citizen, will also be performing for a good cause!
The Hendrix Music Academy is a Not-for Profit Educational Charity, created by Jimi’s niece, that has been serving the At-risk youth of our communities, since October, 2009. The Mission of the Hendrix Music Academy is to provide Music education, intervention and mentoring programs to the At-risk youth of our community, so that they may achieve their highest potential as musicians, leaders and global citizens. Our innovative music and mentoring programs encourage and develop good musicianship, citizenship and reduce juvenile delinquency, which in turn, reduces violence and crime in our communities.
Some exciting accomplishments are: Each year, dozens of teens, from neighborhoods that are plagued with gang-violence, have received instruments, music scholarships and intervention services, throughout the entire school year, such as: guitar lessons, drum lessons, keyboard lessons, songwriting, music business, music production, pro-audio lessons, music performance, field trips, mentoring and more, without any costs to their families. Since 2009 Hendrix Music Academy students have recorded over 500 original songs, right here in Renton!
Jimi Hendrix, a true Global Citizen, is buried in Renton, WA and his tomb attracts over 14,000 visitors from around the world, each year. The tribute shows, like his tomb, have historically drawn fans from all over the globe! This historic event is also sure to attract journalists and press from around the globe as they continue to document the “greatest guitar player ever” and his continued influence over music, worldwide. National and local musicians will come out to pay tribute to Seattle’s very own Rock legend, and raise money for At-risk youth programs, by performing Jimi Hendrix classics and their own music, on this very special anniversary. The bands from the Hendrix Music Academy will also perform, opening the show with great pride and gratitude for Jimi Hendrix! In honor of Jimi’s 70th Birthday, Tina Hendrix and the Hendrix Music Academy will publish 70 of our best recordings from the past 3 years!!
