Giulia Millanta gets rave reviews for "Dust and Desire"

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 12, 2012 - Giulia Millanta was a lonesome, wayward child, a turbulent adolescent with a restless soul, and a single-minded young woman whose greatest passions were wine, sun-dried tomatoes, horses and of course, music.  The connection of delivering thoughts through a form of sound came to her later in life when she picked up the guitar and began to put the two together.  She began with folk songs, which eventually had intermingled with the gypsy side of her.  The act of writing her music seemed to be cathartic for her as the thoughts created the visions and ultimately the songs.  She recorded her first project titled “Giulia and the Dizzyness” which was released through Caven Jatt Records in 2008.  She took her show on the road through Italy, England and even to New York where she performed at clubs such as Goodbye Blue Monday and Nightingale Lounge.  She released another CD “Dropping Down” a few years later, which has more of a multi-level musical performance and giving fans and audiences all over the world a raw and authentic view of who she truly is.  

A few months ago, after touring extensively through Italy, Holland, Germany and Switzerland and Italy, Giulia moved to Austin, Texas, the melting pot of musical creativity of the United States.  

Filled with excitement and inspiration, her third project “Dust and Desire” was born.  This CD is a folk-rock acoustic album recorded live at church house Studio in Austin.  “Dust and Desire” was co-produced by David Pulkingham, internationally acclaimed guitar player and musician.

The lead single off “Dust and Desire” is “Outta Here”.  It is a deep view of a troubled person whose desire to flee and free herself from her troubles is heart retching and beautiful at the same time.  Her vocals are full of drama and quite traumatic bringing a unique understanding of the experience.  Played through a wonder of stringed instrumental sounds brings depth to the overall song.

Accomplishments and Accolades:

For three consecutive years, Giulia was invited to play at the acoustic guitar meeting in Italy, which featured, among others Jackson Browne, Alex de Grassi and John Gorka.
In2010 she was awarded the Carish Award for best songwriter.
She opened for Mary Gauthier and toured with Andy White.  
She had important featured musicians in her second and last CD such as Michael Manring, Ed Gherard and Davild Pulkingham.
