50th Anniversary of Cuban Missile Crises Remembered On Special Radio Program By Marine Veteran

“We were ready to do whatever we had to do, we were at the ready.” These inspiring words by United States Marine Veteran, Kenneth Dawson, clearly demonstrate the passion of those who were serving 50 years ago during the Cuban Missile Crises.

Nov. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Houston, TX (Global Press Release) October 22, 2012 - “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...” these were the famous words from Charles Dickens’ story, “A Tale of Two Cities.” The reality is these are also words that could very well describe the United States in October of 1962. More specifically a time when then President John Kennedy was faced with a situation no president has had to face previously or since. The very real threat of nuclear weapons being installed and placed at the ready in Cuba, close enough to destroy almost half of the United States in a matter of minutes.

During the month of October 2012 we are observing the 50th anniversary of those very special 13 days when we went from the brink of war to peace. On the radio program “Better Job, Better Pay, Better Life,” available on BlogTalkRadio, key historical moments will be discussed as a part of this program’s week day programming. Kenneth Dawson, Chairman and CEO of Dawson & Lyons Consulting, Inc., encourages and teaches individuals how to achieve success in their career. However, 50 years ago he was CEO of a Marine rifle and instead of broadcasting on a weekday radio program he was off the Cuban coast aboard the U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Boxer.

Kenneth Dawson along with his fellow marines were on board a ship deployed to form a blockade to turn back Russian ships trying to deploy nuclear missiles and soldiers in Cuba. Their efforts gave strength to the words of President Kennedy as he negotiated peace from strength. What is exciting for listeners is that Kenneth Dawson has taken the time to share his memories and research of those challenging days. In addition, his partner Charles Lyons, Ph.D., President and Chief Operating Officer of their company, shares what it was like as a young person growing up in a community just outside the nation’s capital.

These two men offer a unique perspective on a powerful moment in history that still impacts our lives today. Those wanting to know more about this are encouraged to visit their company website where information about the event and a special link to some of the programming of the anniversary can be found. This is a moment in history and a special opportunity to experience eyewitness accounts of the event.
