ESAM Inc. Adds Quality Assurance Manager to Staff

Grants Pass, OR, November 9, 2012 – Barbara Spani, Vice President of Operations announced that Robert A. Dooley has joined the ESAM management staff as Quality Assurance Manager.

Nov. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Bob comes to ESAM after serving 24 years in the U S Navy where he achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy, Bob spent 5 years working for the AGI-Goldratt Institute in New Haven, CT.

Bob is certified in LEAN/Six Sigma Black Belt, Theory of Constraints Jonah and Supply Chain Logistics Management. He is proficient in ERP/MRP systems. His Navy experience included maintenance, quality assurance and production management involving numerous electrical and electronics systems in many different environments.

Dave Matheny, President, said, "We are delighted to have Bob join our management team in Grants Pass. We expect him to play a lead role in getting ESAM AS9100C certified over the next several months.   His experience will aid customer’s reliability improvement and cost reduction.”

During his Navy years, Bob attended the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute where he studied Aeronautics/Industrial Engineering.

ESAM was founded in 1974 as an outsource provider for one primary customer in the Northwest. The business supplied “labor only” for wire and cable assemblies and harnesses for this instrumentation company.

In 1984 that customer wanted to move to a full turnkey outsourcing arrangement and the owner, not wanting to do that, decided to sell the company. The present ownership bought the company and set out to expand the business. Quickly, the company became a major supplier to the gaming industry, along with companies in other market segments.

In the early 1990’s customers began asking ESAM to do more “value add” by supplying sub-assemblies that used the cables and harnesses we were building. Over the decade this business continued to grow and expand even to finished equipment. During this time period ESAM began to focus on market segments other than just gaming and instrumentation. A full business computer system was added during this time and has been upgraded repeatedly.

During ESAM’s growth in the 80’s and 90’s we occupied two separate buildings in Grants Pass. In order to consolidate for greater efficiency, a new facility was built in 2000. This facility is easily configurable to accommodate the vast assortment of cable and harness assemblies, along with many different sizes and complexities of “box builds” making rapid expansion capability possible. For even larger future growth ESAM owns additional acreage alongside the present site.

During the first decade of the 2000’s ESAM continued to invest in the business and add services and capabilities. Customer Service was expanded. and engineering services were now added to the offering. With major customers in the capital equipment market, ESAM adopted the “copy exact” process. ESAM became ISO 9001:2001 certified in 2004 (upgraded to ISO 9001:2008 in 2011). HUBZone certification was also attained in 2004. In 2008 ITAR registration was put in place to accommodate the growing list of Aerospace and Defense customers.

ESAM has maintained financial stability over many years and is well positioned to continue to grow the company and its capabilities.
