Nov. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Twelve iPad minis plus apps and accessories are being given away through Dec. 31 in a “Mini Madness” global campaign to promote quality children’s educational apps. App developers from ten countries on four continents have joined in the giveaway, which is organised by The iMums, a children’s tech review site run by four moms from four corners of the earth.

Open worldwide, the iPad mini giveaways kicked off in early November at theimums.com and will continue through Dec. 31, 2012. New giveaways will begin each Monday through Dec. 10 and will last three weeks, so some will overlap. Each giveaway is valued at over US$400 and contains an Apple iPad mini (16GB/WiFi), a 'Workmate' case from Cygnett and apps from the sponsoring developers.

“We wanted to do something special for the holidays, and the iPad mini would be a great family gift,” said iMum Mary Mahon, a United Kingdom native now living in California. “The iTunes platform has already been a game changer in making quality educational apps available at an affordable price. The biggest stumbling block with parents and schools getting access to these apps has been the price of the iPad. This has been gradually coming down and the mini lowers that even further.”

The iMums are a group of four moms who met online while searching for and reviewing apps for their own children. In 2011, they formed a children’s tech review site to help parents and educators find the best educational apps and technology products. The iMums are founder Amanda Powell of Australia, Alison Hirst of the U.S., Grace Shirley Chong of Singapore and Mahon. Collectively, the group has 11 children ages 1 to 18.

“We are all part of one global community of parents, teachers, therapists and developers from around the world who come together to talk about the best children’s apps, and how to make them even better,” Mahon said. “It is amazing to work with the other iMums from around the globe. We have a common goal of ensuring that our children get the best learning opportunities from these devices and are protected from inappropriate content.”

For the giveaway, The iMums pulled together developers from the U.S., Canada, Singapore, The Netherlands, Australia, United Kingdom, China, Greece, and Israel, among other countries with a total of 10 countries. Participating developers include Bamba, Heppi Apps, Loeschware, SoGaBee, Little Learning Tots, Dr Panda, Hamaguchi Apps, Curious Hat, Apps With Curriculum, Smarty Britches, Fairlady Media, Budge Studios, Wasabipro, Story Bayou, Anlock Apps, Shoe the Goose, Kidoodle, Human Body Detectives, demographix, Pic-See, Penelope the Purple Pirate, Dandelion Moms, KeyStageFun, iStoryTime, Eric Sailers Apps, Tizio, KidsAndBeyond, Busy Bee Studios, Sneaky Sam, iLearnWith, Kids 1st Shape Puzzle, Treasure Kai, Ansel and Clair, Short Bald and Lanky, Oceanhouse Media, Weiner Family Studios, Frosby Apps, VCare Creation, Abitalk, Baby Learns, Mobile Education Store, Les Trois Elles Interactive, and Pete and Sneakers.
