The 34 room property, overlooking Four Mile Beach and the Coral Sea in Port Douglas, was honoured at the tourism awards in the coveted category of Best Deluxe Accommodation.
It is the second time in 12 months that the hotel has been recognised for its industry leading product, with it receiving Gold Honours at the National Accommodation Industry Awards for Exc /lsfke’
For the hotel’s owners, Phil and Sheryn Blundstone, to win both awards was testament to the loyal team they have at Peninsula and reward for all of their hard work, dedication and passion.
“Winning awards of this calibre recognises the quality product we deliver within the Port Douglas region.
“It reflects on the service and the hospitality that we extend to our guests, which in a lot of cases can only be achieved in a smaller property like ours that offers true individualised service and attention to detail,” Sheryn said.
In the five years the couple has owned Peninsula Boutique Hotel, they have transformed the property into one of the regions most sought after, deluxe accommodation, catering to the 16 plus age market.
She said it was the small touches such as walking guests to their room, greeting them with a cool aromatherapy refresher towel and welcome drink on arrival as well as providing return airport transfers from the airport that made all the difference.
“We want people to really enjoy their time with us in Port Douglas. It is the little things that go a long way. We like to also provide power adapters for international guests, a complimentary DVD and book library, guest laundry and daily full hot buffet breakfast for every guest to name just a few.”
