The 24 categories reward not only packaging quality but consistency, business strategy and financial performance and environmental impact. Most of all, the judging process is strictly impartial. The Awards have a category for everyone, from corrugated to flexible, design to investment in equipment.
Smithers Pira will be sponsoring the Consumer Convenience Award, the category which rewards packs of any material that demonstrate ease of opening, use, storage and disposal. The shortlisted companies for this award category include Asda, FFP Packaging Solutions, Nampak Plastics, and Smurfit Kappa Leeds.
Sam Sheppard Fidler, Distribution and Product Testing Operations Director at Smithers Pira, will be one of the judges at the Awards and expressed the following in anticipation of the event: “This year witnessed great innovation, particularly around consumer convenience where entrants pushed technologies forwards and combined design features in novel ways to add value.”
Packaging News Brand Director Josh Brooks said: “This year’s UK Packaging Awards will be the biggest in the event’s seven-year history and the support of our sponsors is crucial to its success. I’m delighted that Smithers Pira is supporting the UK Packaging Awards, especially in the increasingly important area of consumer convenience. Our partnership on the Pira Packaging Summit is also an excellent initiative that adds great value to both events.”
Smithers Pira’s flagship packaging conference will precede the UK Packaging Awards on 13-14 November at the London Hilton on Park Lane. This summit is a platform for senior decision-makers throughout the industry to discuss key strategic challenges from across the packaging value-chain and long-term strategies for success.
