CORAL GABLES, FL – Gulliver Schools is pleased to announce that three high school seniors are amongst approximately 16,000 students selected nationwide as Semifinalists in the 58th annual National Merit® Scholarship Program. The qualifying seniors are Gabriella Ekens, Matthew Elgart and Stephanie Rubin.
Additionally, nine high school seniors, Alina Anderson, Mollie Beek, Alan Jaramillo, Nikita Kulkarni, Ariel Lavi, Eric Milton, Juan Pigurina, Gianmarco Renzi and Brooke Rosenberg qualified for National Merit® Commended status. All students took the PSAT and qualified during their junior year at Gulliver Schools.
“We are very excited to have our students recognized for their talent and hard work,” said Connie Ernsberger, director of college and guidance counseling. “It is an honor for Gulliver and for each student to be recognized by the National Merit® Scholarship Program.”
About 1.5 million juniors in more then 22,000 high schools entered the 2013 National Merit® Scholarship Program by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®)
The three Gulliver Semifinalists will continue in the running for 8,300 National Merit® Scholarships. About 90 percent of Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists are likely to win a National Merit® Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title. The National Merit Scholarship winners of 2013 will be announced beginning in April 2013.
