Dr. Semprum-Clavier has taught at the College since 2005, playing key collaborative roles in the development and implementation of the DMD curriculum. In her new post, she will further expand upon that role while working with the Admissions Committee on prospective IDDP candidates. She also will continue to work closely on the implementation of the predoctoral curriculum with colleagues Dr. Courtney Lamb and Dr. Priscilla Chang, Clinical Assistant Professors, Restorative Dentistry.
Dr. Semprum-Clavier hopes to help foreign-educated dentists provide high quality care in the United States and create a diverse work force that can reach out to ethnic communities. In collaboration with Dr. Terry Parsons, Director of the IDDP, Dr. Semprum-Clavier wants to provide the international students with the opportunity to revisit and gain skills and knowledge that will allow them to be outstanding professionals in the Unites States.
"I hope we can provide a friendly learning environment to all students at the UIC International Dental Degree Program,” she said. “Being a former international dental student makes me understand the challenges and sacrifices our students make to achieve their dreams. I hope we can offer support, resources, and advice to all students by giving them tools and information to be successful.”
