After losing one game during the season and finishing 2nd in the Westside Metro Christian League, the Lady Panthers played their first playoff game and beat Good Shepherd in two sets on Monday, October 22. Next up was Damascus Christian in a semi-final game on Monday, October 29. The ladies also won that match in two sets. Immediately following that game was the final game, matching Pilgrim against Country Christian. These same two teams have met in the finals the last two years, with Country Christian coming out on top both years. The Panthers started slowly, falling behind early in the first set. They bounced back and took the set 26-24. The second set saw the Panthers start out in the lead, only to lose it late in the set and fall 24-26. The third set was hard-fought, but the Lady Panthers held on and won 15-10. It was a great game, well-played by both teams.
Pilgrim just finished its 3-5th grade soccer season as well, and is getting ready for 5-8th grade Basketball to begin, which will end in the Lutheran Elementary Schools Tournament in February (including schools from five states).
“We believe that being involved in a sports team provides personal growth outside the classroom,” said Chris Herold, Principal. “Our teams are one more place students can learn to practice their faith in their everyday lives.”
