Nov. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- The Uranium City Nukes is a satirical and light-hearted account of how combining NHL hockey and Canadian constitutional law can produce some surprising results. In the process, the book pokes fun at lawyers, NHL owners, politicians, TV announcers, and Quebec separatists.

The fun begins when the coach of a Peewee hockey team called the Nukes in Uranium City, Saskatchewan, finds a clause in the principle of affirmative action in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It enables him to challenge the Montreal Canadiens to a series of games with his Peewee team for the Stanley Cup.

The case ultimately goes to the Supreme Court, and the decision is in favor of the Nukes! The challenge causes a furor among CBC reporters, NHL owners, and Quebec politicians. The court’s decision gives rise to innumerable similar appeals under affirmative action, beginning a ripple effect throughout Canadian life. When the rules are altered to “even the playing field” as the Nukes play the Canadiens in the big game, guess who wins the Stanley Cup?

The Uranium City Nukes is a work of contemporary satire from author Douglas Frame. He was inspired to write the book to draw attention to the foolishness of politics and politicians in Canada and around the world.
