Submarine Force Museum Creates Commemorative Walkway; First 150 Bricks Installed

Become a permanent part of the Submarine Museum; engrave a commemorative brick paver for the museum’s new walkway

Nov. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- The Submarine Force Museum and USS Nautilus invites the public to help create a new commemorative brick walkway. The Museum is honoring special people in the community by selling personalized engraved bricks to be included in the installation of a new paved path near the Museum entrance. 200 commemorative brick pavers have already been purchased and 150 have been installed. All proceeds from brick sales will go to the perpetuation of the Museum.

According to Mike Riegel, Executive Director of the Submarine Force Library and Museum Association, “We’re offering these custom bricks as an opportunity for people to memorialize a loved one or honor someone’s legacy. We want to create a special place, where everyone has the chance to celebrate an important person in his or her life,” he said.

All purchased pavers are engraved with a personal message honoring a selected individual, and will be installed in the Museum’s new front entrance walkway. Each brick will also come with a commemorative certificate, which makes a wonderful gift for the person honored on the brick.

Along with the purchase of a brick paver, the Museum is granting membership to the Submarine Force Library & Museum Association. Membership can be granted to the purchaser of the paver, or can be transferred to another person as a gift. Membership qualifies individuals to receive a 10% discount on items in the museum store, an invitation to Association events and a listing in our Donor Registry. The purchase of larger pavers entitles one to Lifetime Association Membership.

All funds raised from brick sales will be used to improve museum exhibits, maintain historic archives and enhance offerings provided to visitors. To purchase your own brick, please visit http://www.ussnautilus.org/bricks.php or call the Museum Association Director at 860.448.0893 for more information.
