Enlighten-Action for Epilepsy is a local, non-governmental charity that raises epilepsy awareness and supports those affected by epilepsy in Hong Kong. Enlighten CEO, Claudia Schlesinger says “There are over 65000 people with epilepsy in Hong Kong, though most of them prefer to live in silence due to the stigma that surrounds epilepsy making it imperative for us to build epilepsy awareness to ensure they can lead a better quality of life”.
The “Purple Town” initiative hopes to encourage regular donations to the charity by rewarding donors with exclusive access to Purple Town. In return for their generosity, the donors receive benefits including access to hundreds of offers and discounts available throughout Hong Kong including regular travel deals, health & beauty offers and restaurant discounts! The beauty of the programme is that every time a member uses the benefits card, they are also spreading awareness of the cause.
“We intend to fully utilise the funds raised from “Purple Town” membership towards supporting those with epilepsy in Hong Kong. Many of our service beneficiaries are in constant need of financial support for new medication, alternative treatments like ketogenic diet etc., as well as emotional support from our counsellors,”
A benefits programme is not easy for charities to implement due to the manpower required to manage them. However with the support of Total Loyalty Company (TLC), Enlighten has been able to outsource the day-to-day management of the programme.
TLC provides an outsourcing solution for loyalty rewards programs, staff social club programs and incentive based rewards programs. Sam Lau, Managing Director of Total Loyalty Company says “In allowing TLC to source discounts, organise social events and process memberships, Enlighten can focus their resources on the cause at hand, raising Epilepsy awareness”.
“We are grateful to Total Loyalty Company for helping us launch Purple Town in Hong Kong. They have been extremely supportive of our cause towards supporting those affected by epilepsy in Hong Kong and building epilepsy awareness,” adds Claudia.
The Purple Town initiative follows the successful campaign ‘Paint the town Purple’ in March, Epilepsy Awareness Month, where businesses throughout Hong Kong promoted the colour purple to raise awareness.
Claudia explains, “Purple, more specifically ‘lavender,’
