Hair Transplant procedures in high demand in the Middle East and Gulf Region

International Congress in Aesthetic, Anti-Aging Medicine & Medical Spa (ICAAM Middle East) to feature Micrograft Hair Transplant techniques

Nov. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Hair transplant procedures and latest technologies will be discussed at the upcoming International Congress in Aesthetic, Anti-Aging Medicine & Medical Spa (ICAAM Middle East). Amongst the most common hair loss conditions in Middle Eastern population are male Androgenetic Alopecia at 50%, female Androgenetic Alopecia at 40%, Traction alopecia (mostly prevalent amongst African women) at 5%, and Alopecia areata at 5%.
Hair loss conditions and treatment procedures will be discussed by Dr. Pierre Bouhanna who will present ‘Newest hair micrografts techniques for male and female : All the indications’ at the Hair Transplantation: Latest Techniques session taking place at ICAAM Middle East on November 23rd & 24th 2012 at Habtoor Grand Resort & Spa, Dubai.
“Hair loss is a major concern amongst many men and women in the Middle East and North Africa region and is a growing phenomenon due to many reasons. This year’s lecture at ICAAM Middle East 2012 will cover the essential and state-of-the-art art treatments providing final solutions for hair loss conditions,” says Dr. Pierre Bouhanna.
Both males and females in the Middle East are equal recipients of hair micrografts. Hair loss in both genders occurs for many reasons including male androgenetic alopecia, female androgenetic alopecia, traction alopecia (mostly common in African women), hair loss due to post-radiation therapy for brain tumor patients (male or female), cicatricial alopecia (after lifting, collagenosis, resulting from burns etc. (male or female), hair loss in eyebrows and eyelashes in both male or female patients; in addition to beard and mustache alopecia.
All the latest advancements in hair loss treatments for these types of conditions are usually initiated by a precise hair check-up with the phototrichogram and the multifactorial classification for a better indication of the medical and surgical treatments required by male or female patients.
According to Dr. Bouhanna, “Treatment for various hair loss conditions includes the Follicular Unit Long hair (FUL); a process will hide scabs by the long hair shaft and requires no shaving. It also provides an immediate and better evaluation of the orientation and the angling of the hair shaft during insertion and allows for a greater amount of hair to be transplanted. Another treatment is the Follicular Unit extraction (FUE) which consists of shaving the area and extracting hair with a micropunch. The benefits of this procedure is that it does not cause any linear scar and it works for patients whose balding is not evolving, do not have scalp laxity and who are willing to shave their scalp.”
Another hair loss treatment procedure is involves treatment with the Dermaroller and, by infusing platelet rich plasma (PRP) into the scalp, the procedure reverses the hair miniaturization over an 8 month period. This positive effect on the hair growth is due to the various hair growth factors of the platelets which are centrifugated from the blood of the patients in order to avoid side effects.
