From 2-3, meet award-winning children’s book authors Chris Kurtz and Jane Kurtz in a presentation full of stories and songs about the Kurtz’s adventures in Ethiopia when they were children, about their books—from an American Girl Doll of the Year stories to the adventures of a South Pole pig—and about their volunteer efforts to get books into the hands of Ethiopian children. Some of their books will be available for signing. From 3-5, families can choose to also participate in a cultural exchange. Inspire children to learn some Amharic. Participate in craft activities related to holiday traditions in Ethiopia. Create a piece of art for a children’s library in Ethiopia. Make an Ethiopian snack and learn how to whirl with Ethiopian Community dancers. ABOUT Authors Jane Kurtz and Chris Kurtz Jane Kurtz and Christopher Kurtz are siblings, authors, educators and speakers who spent their childhood in Ethiopia and now live in Portland, Oregon. Between them, they have thirty-three books published (or on the way) and have spoken on five continents. Jane and Chris inspire as writers, speakers, and active volunteers for Ethiopia Reads.
