Quarles & Brady’s Steven Hunter named Chairman of the Chicago Chapter of Brown University’s Black Alumni Group
(CHICAGO) -- The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Steven V. Hunter, an attorney in their Chicago office, was recently named the Chairman of the Chicago Chapter of Brown University’s Inman Page Black Alumni Council (IPC). The mission of IPC is to strengthen Brown University by directly addressing the needs and concerns of its Black alumni and establishing a productive interaction among Black alumni, students, faculty and staff.
The Chicago Chapter of the IPC was founded this year with the goal of making more of an impact on Brown University’s current and future African-American alumni.
"Our mission is to encourage qualified African-American high school students to consider Brown University for their higher education while fostering a sense of community among African-American alumni in Chicago," Hunter explained.
Hunter, who graduated from Brown with a degree in Economics and Political Science, is a trial lawyer with first-chair experience representing corporations and lending institutions in commercial banking, real estate and construction litigation throughout the country. He was recently selected to join the next class of Fellows of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) and was one of the 2012 Honorees at the Chicago Conversation Awards.
Hunter has been named a ‘Rising Star’ in the area of business litigation by Illinois Super Lawyers, an "Exceptional Young Lawyer" by the Chicago Bar Association, one of the "Nation's Best Advocates" by the National Bar Association, and one of the “40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 To Watch,” by Chicago Lawyer magazine and The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Hunter will be officially inducted as Chairman during an inauguration ceremony on November 7th at the Quarles & Brady Chicago office.
About Brown University’s Inman Page Black Alumni Council
The Inman Page Black Alumni Council (IPC) was formed in honor of Inman Page and George Washington Milford, the first known Black undergraduates of Brown University, class of 1877 and all of the Black students who have followed in the path that they cleared. The Council was established April 14, 2000. Members of IPC channel their energies toward broadening opportunities for the Black community of Brown University and maximizing Black alumni participation in the life of the University. In addition, the members work with organizations that further the interest of Brown University, including but not limited to the Brown Alumni Association.
