Nov. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- For nine years, Hyderabad city’s running community has rallied behind the Hyderabad 10K Run, being conducted by the Hyderabad 10K Foundation. It’s time now to repay their loyalty and commitment to the event by giving them a much more enhanced and satisfying running experience.

This responsibility has been bestowed upon Procam International, the pioneers of the “International Running Movement” in India, who are now committed to convert the Hyderabad 10K into a much bigger and grander international race in the years to come.

Shri Nandendla Manohar, Hon’ble Speaker Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Shri M T Krishna Babu, I.A.S, Municipal Commissioner, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Shri Anurag Sharma, I.P.S, Commissioner of Police, Dr. T.R.K. Rao, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, along with Raj Assomull, representing the board of of Jamba Cloud, today announced that Hyderabad city would pay host to the Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K Run on November 25, 2012.

Also present at the event was Uma Chigurupati, Chairperson Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation, Anil & Vivek B Singh of Procam International, the promoters of the event, representatives of the events partners and various dignitaries and celebrities.


Announcing the Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K, Erik Holling of Jamba Cloud said in a message, "Jamba Cloud is excited to be the title sponsor of this international distance running event.  We are proud to be the first to lend our name to an event which promises to attract international elite athletes and provide enormous visibility to such a great city.  In todays’ fiscally conscious times…we believe that sponsoring the Hyderabad 10K benefits the local economy, our global consumers, our company and our employees and we are proud of that.

The Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation is a charitable organization, started out of passion for the city of Hyderabad in 2003. The main objective is to encourage and support various social issues related to Health and Fitness. The Foundation has been organizing the 10K Run, Athletic Meets in association with the Athletic Federation, School Sports and the Hyderabad Heritage Marathon every year.

The Foundation has taken up the cause of Mission Sports & identified some government schools and aided them to provide training facilities for young sports persons in Hyderabad.

The Foundation also taken into account the invaluable contribution of veteran sports persons and felicitated them, recognizing and awarding them for their dedication to the world of sports.

Speaking on the occasion Uma Chigurupati, Chairperson Hyderabad 10K Foundation, said, “We are proud to announce that this is the 10th year of the 10K Run, which has introduced running to the city, and today the Run has become an integral part of the people’s psyche and very close to their hearts.

This year, we have associated with Procam International, an organization which is renowned nationally & internationally for organizing international running events in Delhi, Mumbai & Bangalore.”

Procam International kick started the running movement in India with the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon in 2004, following it up with the Delhi Half Marathon, initiated in 2005, before traveling to Bangalore city with the World 10K, Bangalore which was first run in 2008. The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon is now ranked amongst the top ten marathons in the world, the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon is the world’s most prestigious Half Marathon, while the TCS World 10K is the richest in the world over that distance.

All the three events also hold the IAAF Gold Label, the highest distinction for organisational excellence and other parameters awarded to a road running event. It is with this pedigree and background that Procam International now brings to the people of Hyderabad the Jamba Cloud Hyderabd 10K run.

About 15,000 people are expected to be a part of this momentous event on November 25th, participating in the various events of the day.

The Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K, will be certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS)  and  conducted under the auspices of the Andhra Pradesh Athletic Association and is being partnered by leading brands and corporates in their fields, critical to the fabric of the Event.

While Online Registrations for the Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K began on October 27, physical registrations will begin today and will shut as soon as the 15000 running places are full. There are five thousand running places on offer for the 10K Run and 10,000 running places on offer for the 7 km Mazza Run. The official website for the Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K is www.procamrunning.in/jambacloudhyd10k, through which online registrations can be done.

The website will also offer every participant an opportunity to purchase a personalized participation photograph through Marathon-Photos.com, the worldwide market leader in Event Photography & the Official Photographer to the Event.  The website will also have a Volunteer Application Database – through which one can apply to volunteer for the Event. The website will evolve on a daily basis to include Blogs, Contests, Photos uploading etc.

There will be two events on Race Day, namely the 10 Km Run, open to those above 15 years of age (born on or before 24-11-1997) and the 7 km Mazza Run, open to those over 12 years of age (born on or before 24-11-2000). The 10K Run will have the overall category, the Indian category, the veteran category, the senior veteran category and super veteran category.

The 10 Km Run will be a compulsorily timed race category and will have an application fee of Rs 550, (including timing chip and service tax). Applicants residing outside India will have to pay USD 25 for the same. The Mazza Run will have an application fee of Rs 350, (including service tax) with applicants residing outside India having to pay USD 15.
