These are Past Life Regression clients who jump from one lifetime to another when I intend for them to move forward in the same lifetime," Mark said. "When this happens the Past Life Regression clients typically do not go back to the lifetimes they visited before, however there is a common thread that connects these different lifetimes, much like there is in Cloud Atlas," he continued. The multiple storylines span thousands of years and at first seem to be both disparate and connected, though that's part of the beauty of this movie. While some speak of fractured narrative in Cloud Atlas, it is quite obvious that this was intentional in the telling of this dazzling story that is an epic, poetic search for cosmic truth. From the very beginning of the movie it is obvious that something profound is unfolding. Although Cloud Atlas avoids the stereotypical aliens, robots and explosions found in most modern day science fiction movies, it still has a powerful message along with an energy that keeps it moving throughout the entire 3 hours. Very much like someone exploring 4 or more lifetimes in a Past Life Regression session, Cloud Atlas depicts stories that involve multiple generations, personalities and experiences. This involves a metaphysical journey from the 1930's to the 1970's to a 19th century voyage in the south pacific as well as into futuristic Korea and a post-apocalyptic future that involves a battle for the survival of the human race, and even some comic adventures in London.
