Emterra Environmental and the Central Community Health Centre (CCHC) have come together to celebrate Emterra’s $5,000 donation at the CCHC’s recent open house. CCHC is a St. Thomas based provider of health services servicing the immediate St. Thomas community, including Southwold Township and Central Elgin. It provides community clients access to health services that would otherwise not be available or difficult to access.
Emeterra’s Community CareTM initiative is one the organization developed specifically to link Emterra with community organizations that provide valuable services to community members. The focus is on supporting communities in which Emterra employees live and work, and the clients served within those communities. The goal is to realize healthier, more sustainable communities and positively contribute to creating great places to live.
"We are so excited to be able to acknowledge this gift during Community Health Week," said Judith Wiley, CCHC Executive Director. "We plan to celebrate at our open house on Wednesday afternoon and this donation puts the icing on the cake." She adds that when companies such as Emterra generously donate, they are able to seek matching funds through government funded programs. Thus, the contribution goes further and provides the CCHC a great boost in financial support beyond the initial donation.
s area operations manager, Grant Parzych, has challenged area businesses to contribute, too. Parzych says, “It’s as simple as making a donation, large or small, to the centre.” It is the CCHC’s hope that this private sector leadership modeled by Emterra will catch on so that the Centre can provide even more support to the community served.
