, a Danish online fundraising platform that offers tools for users to create their own social fundraising page, is launching their site in Austria this Monday (5/11). By using BetterNow, Austrian companies, individuals and groups are able to become fundraisers of charities, non-governmental organizations and causes of their choice and share it with friends, family and colleagues through social media.
BetterNow’s goal is to give everybody a chance to support a good cause by making it a part of their lives. “You can create a fundraising page for your birthday and wish for donations instead of traditional gifts or even combine your participation in a marathon race with your cause”, explains Bent Haugland, BetterNow’s co-founder. “Our vision is to make the world more generous by empowering anyone to make a difference and fundamentally change the act of giving. We want to make charity fun, attentive and easy. Make it something that supports you and your interests. Something you can be passionate about”.
Launching in Austria is a part of BetterNow’s expansion strategy. Created in Denmark in January 2011 by the entrepreneurs Martin Bjergegaard and Bent Haugland, BetterNow (www.betternow.dk)
was the first online fundraising business in the country and is the market leader. Within a little more than a year, BetterNow Sweden (www.betternow.se
) was launched and now the company is focused on expanding to Europe: “We’ve had a great start in Scandinavia and now we feel ready to take BetterNow abroad. Like in Denmark, Austria has a great culture of giving therefore we are looking very much forward to give everybody in the country the possibility to combine charity with their personal interests through online social fundraising. A successful implementation in Austria will give us a lot of experience to be able to achieve BetterNow’s plans of expansion”, says Bent Haugland.
With less than two years on the Scandinavian market, BetterNow helped raising more than half a million euros through almost 13.000 donations supported by over 1700 fundraisers.
