Nov. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Join Maestro Eduardo Cedeño as he rings in the holiday season with the Lake Norman Orchestra!  

The LKNO will present its 10th Annual Holiday Performance on Saturday, December 8 at 7:00 PM.  

This family-friendly event will be held at the Roland R. Morgan Auditorium at Mooresville High School located at 659 East Center Avenue in Mooresville, NC.  The performance includes several favorite holiday selections including lively tunes performed by the LKNO Brass Ensemble.  

Appearing with the orchestra will be special guests:  Mezzo-Soprano Stephanie Foley Davis, who is sure to thrill everyone and also appearing will be the Central United Methodist Church’s "Central Ringers" Handbell Choir performing songs of the season.  Rumor has it that Santa will make an entrance and there will be door and raffle prizes. From children to adults, there's sure to be a festive sound of joy for every ear.  Please come and join in as the Lake Norman Orchestra celebrates the season!

Tickets are $5 at the door. Admission is free for children five and under.  Group ticket reservations should be made in advance by visiting by contacting the LKNO at lknorchestra@gmail.com

The Lake Norman Orchestra, a not-for-profit community organization, welcomes all volunteers who desire to improve their musicianship, share their talent with their peers and provide quality entertainment throughout the Piedmont region of North Carolina. The LKNO performs several concerts throughout the year at numerous venues in the Lake Norman area. The LKNO musical repertoire is as diverse as its membership, so you're sure to find something you enjoy. Rehearsals are held every Monday evening, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Peninsula Baptist Church in Mooresville.

Eduardo M. Cedeño has performed as a conductor, soloist and collaborative artist in the United States, Europe, and South America. This summer, he led members of the Lake Norman Orchestra on a concert tour in Vienna and Salzburg, Austria. As a founding member of the Simon Bolivar Orchestra, Director and Conductor of the Merida Symphony Orchestra and as a Founding Member of the Philharmonic Choral Group of Caracas, Venezuela, he has worked with the founder of El Sistema and the Orquesta Nacional Juvenil de Venezuela. Cedeño has collaborated with numerous performing organizations including the Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Opera, and Charlotte Civic Orchestra; UNCC Opera and Carolina Voices, as well as various orchestras in Caracas, Venezuela. In addition to conducting the Lake Norman Orchestra, Cedeño presently serves as Adjunct Music Faculty at Mitchell Community College in Statesville, Orchestra Director at Gaston School of the Arts in Gastonia, and Strings Instructor and Chorus/Band Director at Community School of Davidson High School in Davidson, NC.  Website:  http://www.eduardocedeno.net

Stephanie Foley Davis has been praised by the New York Times for her Glimmerglass Festival debut as “a poised, touching Ma Moss” and Opera News said she was “a loving, careworn Ma, warm of voice and presence.”  She returned to The Glimmerglass Festival to create the role of Mary McCarthy in the world premiere of Jeanine Tesori’s A Blizzard in Marblehead Neck in 2011. Davis made her Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra debut as Giovanna in Rigoletto and her North Carolina Opera debut as Ines in Il Trovatore, both in 2012.  She has a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and received her BA in Vocal Performance and BS in Sound Recording Technology from the State University of New York at Fredonia. She received a Professional Artist Certificate at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute at the North Carolina School of the Arts where she studies with Marion Pratnicki.   Ms. Davis has been featured on An Evening of Carolina Voices with Metropolitan Opera singers and her ability to capture an audience in operatic roles has been recognized several times in competition.  In 2012, Davis won First Place in the   Heafner/Williams Vocal Competition, and in 2007, was a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in the North Carolina district. She has also achieved third and second place at the Opera Guild of Charlotte competition in 2006 and 2008 consecutively.  Stephanie is a two-time first place winner of the North   Carolina NATS competition, and a third place winner in the Mid Atlantic NATS competition. Also an active oratorio/concert performer, Ms. Davis performed the mezzo-soprano solo in Alexander Nevsky with the Greensboro Symphony. For more information visit http://www.stephaniefoleymezzo.com
