Fresh university graduates to access resources to hone their ICT skills

Techno Brain, Africa’s leading software development company has launched a state-of-the-art Research and Development Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

Located at its expansive premises on Nairobi’s Mombasa road, the new Kenya Development Centre is designed to promote the development of innovation and growth of the Kenya’s software economy.

The facility, with a projected annual enrollment of 80 aspiring software developers and top fresh University graduates, will contribute towards sharpening IT skills while giving the much needed impetus to propelling the ICT sector.

Techno Brain’s Kenya Development Centre will provide assistance and resources to the students to create new and innovative products and services, thus improving their business competitiveness. This centre will develop better student collaboration and synergies while acting as a test laboratory for software development.

The function was presided over by Dr. Bitange Ndemo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communication who noted that information technology training and industry skills transfer will actively contribute to economic growth and prosperity in the country and the entire region.

This facility is an important step to encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship thereby spurring economic growth. We, in government, expect the centre to boost the local software developer industry, driving increased availability of highly skilled and talented ICT users as well as developer skills in the country,” said Dr. Ndemo.

This centre will enable the young developers to learn about the latest scalable technologies, stimulating technology innovation and driving the local software economy to boost national competitiveness.

Speaking at the same function, Paul Kukubo, Chief Executive, Kenya ICT Board said “This launch is a milestone in Kenya ICT Industry and is quite strategic for the industries reputation. This is following fast in the heels of the IBM research Lab and therefore sends a strong a message about the industry seriousness.”

Also present at the launch was Manoj Shanker, CEO, Techno Brain group who noted “Techno Brain is committed to providing a world class facility for the youth to hone their ICT skills and actualizing the launch of this development centre is a testament that the company will continue to play a major role in bolstering the continued growth of the sector”.
