M.C. Sungaila Named One of The Recorder’s Women Leaders in Law

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 2, 2012 - ORANGE COUNTY – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Mary-Christine “M.C.” Sungaila, appellate partner in the firm’s Orange County and Los Angeles offices, was named one of The Recorder’s Women Leaders in Law. The annual list recognizes 40 “champion networkers” this year within the October 29th issue of The Recorder and at a reception in San Francisco on November 2nd.

M.C. Sungaila has briefed and argued appeals and business issues statewide as well as nationally and internationally. She has helped to define the scope of the duty to warn sophisticated users of product hazards, overturn multimillion dollar judgments, limit the reach of medical monitoring claims, clarify the standards for interstate enforcement of noncompete agreements and secure important rights for women worldwide. She has been pro bono counsel of record for amici in, or consulted on, over 17 women’s and civil rights cases before the United States Supreme Court, the Inter-American Commission, the Inter-American Court on Human Rights and the California Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal. Sungaila is ranked by Chambers as a "notable appellate practitioner" in California, has been repeatedly named one of the Top Women Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal, was featured as an Appellate Lawyer of the Week by the National Law Journal, and has appeared on the Best Lawyers in America® Appellate Law list for three consecutive years. Southern California Super Lawyers® has recognized her in the area of Appellate Law since the list's inception, as one of the Top 50 Females in Southern California since 2008 and among the Top 50 Attorneys in Orange County in 2012.

Sungaila is an active member of the Steering Committee of the ABA Women Rainmakers, Chair of the Amicus Curiae Committee and Vice-Chair of the Appellate Practice Committee of the International Association of Defense Counsel, a member of the RAND Institute for Civil Justice's Board of Overseers, and most recently was appointed to the Coastline Community College Foundation Board of Directors.
