On December 6th at the Pavilion in Nicosia and 7th December at The Basement Club Limassol, you will be able to attend the Michael Jackson Show – The Navi Experience….The legend of Michael Jackson continues through Navi, the world’s number one impersonator who was personally hand-picked by Michael to work in several ways. Over a period of many years, this included coming out of hotels as a decoy, promoting his forthcoming tours, album launches and even as a body double for his planned This Is It concerts in London. Navi shared many magical moments from being backstage at awards ceremonies MJ attended to pre and post show parties of MJ’s concerts.
Navi for the past 24 years has captivated audiences and in 2003, was invited to perform at Michael’s 45th birthday party in Los Angeles. “One of the greatest honours was an invitation to visit Michael’s home Neverland which was quite a surreal experience. I spent the day there, visiting the cinema, zoo, going on a few of the theme park rides and having a barbeque on the grounds. It’s a most precious memory.”
It’s not only the physical similarity which Navi has to Michael Jackson, but his vocal abilities too. After performing as the opening act for Michael’s birthday parties, both in New York in 2002 and in Los Angeles the following year, he received a standing ovation and thumbs up from Michael who was clearly delighted at Navi’s rendition of his songs. Navi has worked with legends of the music industry including Luther Vandross, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Prince and Janet Jackson amongst others.
Navi is the only tribute act to have actually worked with the ‘pillars’ of the Michael Jackson world. He has worked with Sony on several album promotions over the years including History, the Thriller 25 launch, Number Ones, King of Pop and Invincible. He was also invited to the recording studio’s London headquarters to hear Michael’s most recent album before it was released commercially in 2010.
Navi was a firm supporter of Michael, not only as an impersonator but also a friend. When MJ faced child allegation charges, where he was found to be not guilty, Navi captured the attention of the world press when dressed as MJ; he held a sign saying ‘Smooth but Not a Criminal.’ Although the trial went on for several weeks, Navi travelled between London and Los Angeles to show support and fly the support flag while continuing to fulfil show commitments.
Once again, during the 2011 trial of Dr Conrad Murray, Navi appeared both as himself and in MJ attire inside and outside the courthouse in protest against Dr Murray’s sentence of four years imprisonment.
Navi’s performed in 250 international shows within 57 different countries across 5 continents and is thrilled and excited to be performing in Cyprus.
