AMAC urges seniors to vote and help Get Out The Vote on November 6th

Our purpose is to ensure that everyone who can vote, Liberal, Democrat, Independent, Conservative and Republican, casts a ballot on Election Day

PRLog - Nov. 2, 2012 - BOHEMIA, NY – “GOTV is not a new must see cable channel, it’s a mission that AMAC is urging its members, their friends and all older Americans across the country to undertake in the coming days—Get Out The Vote,” said Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.

He issued the exhortation four days before the country goes to the polls to elect the next president of the United States “because our right to vote is also duty for all citizens.  And, it sends the loudest and clearest message to our lawmakers as to what we, the electorate, want and what we don’t want.”

Weber said it is bad enough that as many as 40% of eligible voters choose not to cast their ballots in any given election, including presidential elections, even though each and every vote counts.  “Bear in mind that the 2000 presidential election was decided by just 600 people in Florida, so don’t let anybody tell you that not voting is an option.”

Every local, state and national election is important because the choices we make at the polls have a direct and lasting impact on our lives, he said.

“But this year the stakes couldn’t be higher because the issues are so critical – our economy, our healthcare, our jobs and our quality of life are at stake.  These are bread and butter issues that we need to deal with for our own sakes as well as for the sakes of our children and grandchildren.”

Weber emphasized that his desire to get as many people as possible to vote on November 6th is not a partisan plea.  “Indeed, AMAC espouses Conservative values, but we also believe that every individual has a right to make up his or her own mind as to who is the best candidate.  Our purpose is to ensure that everyone who can vote, whether he or she be Liberal, Democrat, Independent, Conservative and Republican, casts a ballot on Election Day.”

Here are some tips he had for those who take his words to heart and make a deliberate effort to “Get Out The Vote:”

·       Call or visit your friends and family members and if they are waffling, encourage them to vote.

·       Ask your church leaders to boost voter enthusiasm; they don’t have to tell how to vote, just that they need to vote their conscience.

·       If you are in a service club [i.e. the Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions], talk up the importance of going to the polls on Tuesday among your fellow members.

ABOUT AMAC

The Association of Mature American Citizens [http://www.amac.us] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those traditional organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation.  Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members.  We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.
