First-Ever Caregivers Conference Brings Focus to Issue of Self-Care for Caregivers

Nov. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Announced today, the first-ever Caregivers Conference will take place at Creekside Conference and Event Center, Jan. 26, 2013 in Columbus, Ohio.  The conference theme, “Developing Self-Care Habits – Self-Care is Health for Life,” will be woven throughout the day, as expert speakers share self-care techniques to easily apply in daily living.

“I saw the need for a Caregivers Conference, as in spite of the many opportunities to learn how to give care, there’ve been few resources for caregivers to learn to care for themselves,” said Theresa Cloud Eagle, conference organizer, author and speaker. “ 44 million people provide unpaid care to older people, but 50 percent of caregivers die before the person to whom they’re giving care, which means it’s as important for them to care for themselves as it for them to be able to care for others.”

These should be short stories outlining the greatest joy and greatest obstacle encountered during a caregiver’s journey and how she or he overcame the obstacle.
