Rosemont change wasteland to wetland

A team of volunteers from Rosemont Pharmaceuticals have just restored an overgrown area of land back to its original wetland state at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, Leeds.

Nov. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Not only has this provided a much needed boggy habitat for a variety of amphibians and native plants, but has also significantly reduced the flood risk to the farm and neighbouring land.

The Rosemont volunteers had support from local Olympic diver Rebecca Gallantree – who is sponsored by Rosemont.

This is the first project in a two year pledge which Rosemont have made to the Farm as part of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility . Every month, volunteers from the company will work at the Farm to continue the valuable land restoration projects.

Says Rob Page, education officer at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm: ‘We’ve wanted to undertake this project for many years but have never had a big enough team of volunteers to make it happen.  So many wetlands have been lost in the UK and we’ll always be grateful to the Rosemont volunteers for recreating one in the heart of Leeds.’
