Nov. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Thiruvanathapuram/ New Delhi, November 1, 2012: Pantel Technologies Private Limited (PTPL), a pioneer in designing and marketing low-cost tablet PC(s) in India, launched the largest ever rural awareness progam on Internet access through Tablet PC(s) at the 9th JAN VIGYAN VIKAS YATRA flagged off by the President of India at Trivandrum, Kerala. The highlights of this biggest ever IT awareness initiative for rural India:  
•   The yatra will travel through 5,000 Panchayats of India – spreading the awareness of Internet access through the affordable medium of Penta Tablet PC(s).
•   The yatra is a collaborative effort with the PN Panicker Foundation – recognized globally for their pioneering work in the field of rural literacy – as a part of the CNRI, Confederation of NGO(s) of Rural India.
•   It focuses on spreading the messages of e-learning and empowerment of the rural poor through knowledge acquired by internet access.

The first leg of the Yatra is from Trivandrum to Kasargode in Kerala – to be covered in the next 30 days. The Kerala leg of the Yatra will cover 140 panchayats and reach out to 30 Lakh people. Subsequently – over the next 5 months, it will travel through multiple states of India reaching Srinagar by March 31, 2013.

The yatra is focused on the rural community demonstrating its activities at the Panchayat and Gram Sabha level. Yatra is a caravan of 5 vehicles: pilot vehicle, float of a model village with an internet kiosk based on Penta Tablet PC(s), community health float, a drama troupe that does street shows on the benefits of e-learning, literacy and internet access.
