Saint Monica University Forms Student Government Association

Oct. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- Saint Monica University: The American International University, today announced that it has formed a Student Government Association (SGA). The organization’s motto is “To Serve, Inform, Educate, and Represent” the students; and this will begin with the ratification of the SGA Constitution, which has been proposed by the school’s administration.

The SGA of Saint Monica’s University (SMU) was elected during the Opening Convocation of the university, which took place on Monday, October 29, 2012. Those elected to serve as leaders of the SGA are:
a)   President = Mr. Linus Enobi Akepe
b)   Vice President = Mr. Jingwa Fonge
c)   Secretary = Mr. Charles Enow Tanyi
d)   Assistant Secretary = Mr. Numfor Alenwi
e)   Treasurer = Mr. Ernest Ambi Abia
f)   Assistant Treasurer = Ms. Cynthia Elonge
g)   Attorney General = Mr. Charles Forcha
h)   Assistant Attorney General = Ms. Onorine Bih

“We are very pleased to see young men and women volunteering to serve this university community as student leaders,” said Prof. Bongasu Tanla-Kishani, President of SMU. “SMU provides an environment where students can learn with support and graduate with confidence. To realize this, it is important to involve the students and this explains why the SGA President will be able to represent students at the Board of Regents of the university.”

“This Student Government Association is dedicated to providing students with the resources and information they need to ensure that they have a rewarding experience on campus,” said Mr. Linus Enobi Akepe, SGA President. “Under my administration, the SGA will work everyday to earn students’ trust and to serve them with the utmost integrity. Confirming the organization’s determination to be at the service of fellow students, the pioneer Secretary, Mr. Charles Enow Tanyi stated that “the mission of the SGA at this university is to preserve and defend the rights and privileges of student self-governance, to guarantee a student voice and involvement in university decisions, to serve the common interest of students, to train ourselves in democratic government, and to promote citizenship on campus.”
