Apple and We Make Movies Kill the Post House

Recent Release of Final Cut Pro X and Free Tutorials will save Indie Filmmakers Thousands of Dollars

Oct. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- When Apple released FCPX 10.6 last Tuesday, it meant that for as little as $300, filmmakers could finally finish their 4k RED films without the need to purchase other expensive equipment, software, or hire post houses.

When We Make Movies (http://www.wemakemovies.org) released their FCPX tutorials last week, it meant that filmmakers could finish their films in 4k and actually know what they were doing.  All of the tutorials are free and available online, and the response (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?87683-Free-FCPX-Red-Workflow-Tutorials-now-posted!)  has been overwhelming.  Filmmakers are ecstatic that FCPX has finally arrived, and WMM makes it accessible and easier to understand how to take advantage of it.  All of the tutorials can be found at http://themovieswemake.com

About We Make Movies
Created in the spring of 2009, WMM is an LA based film collective “dedicated to making the independent film world a better, more humane place”. The group meets at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks every Wednesday, alternating writers workshops, improv nights, and industry guest interviews in an effort to help filmmakers get feedback on their work, try new ideas, and learn what's working for others. Everything about WMM is free. From the wine and snacks at their weekly events, to the recently released 46 page e-Book, “We Make Movies 2012 Filmmaking Survival Guide”, they are dedicated to empowering independent filmmakers and  providing the resources and connections that will help them get their movies made.

In addition to free workshops and educational resources, the group crowdfunds on Kickstarter and through private donations, raising money to produce shorts that were developed in the workshops. Scripts are entered into a challenge and anonymously read and voted on by audience members. The 2012 WMM Film Challenge Finals will take place November 7th, where 3 of the 6 finalists will each win $2000 to produce their film.
