PRLog - Oct. 31, 2012 - In structured cabling the numbers of ports are often calculated generously so that more wall sockets are installed than actually required at that time. To activate the outlets, the passive ports have to be connected with the active components in the patch panel.
Subsequent activation of ports
"For systems with 10,000 ports and more, on-demand-patching is very complex: the risk of installation errors is high and the so-grown systems are often extremely complex. Intelligent RFID-based cable management systems document and automatically register the associated links, but cannot prevent cable clutter”, says André Engel, CEO of tde - trans data elektronik. As a smart alternative all active ports are installed from the outset and connected to the respective passive components. A time-consuming subsequent patching is redundant and all wall sockets are operational and ready for service right from the start.
Clear cabinets with tde trunk patch cables
A clear and concise cabling picture is provided by a new, patented Cat.6A trunk patch cable made by tde. Six patch cables are condensed in an overall cable jacket. A fan-out unit transfers the trunk sides in six whips with six RJ 45 jacks mounted at their ends. The lengths of the whips are graded in such a manner that each patch cord exactly reaches the designated port. The grading is predefined at installation so that a "misplugging"
