National handicraft mela - Gandhi Shilp Bazar and National folk dance program Lokrang-2012 organized by Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur kicks off on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at grand level.
Governer of Rajasthan, Margaret Alva inagurated the festival in Jaipur by enlighten the lamp. Folk artists welcome her with the garlands and flower bouquets, while the folk music was echoing in the surrounding. Governer of Rajasthan visited the stalls of handicraft items in the fair. She appreciated the handicraft work of all 20 states of India including handicraft work of Rajasthan. Wood work, embroidery, textile, laquer work, bamboo work, handloom work, blue pottery, terracotta, dry flowers, painting and leather work of various states of India are the main attraction of the fair.
Lokrang-2012 started with Chari dance of Rajasthan. Artists of Kishangarh, Rajasthan performed Chari dance in order to welcome the Governer of Rajasthan. Daang dance of Gujarat, Dekhani dance of Goa, Laavani dance of Maharashtra, Maandwari Garba dance of Gujarat, Langaa Gaayan of Rajasthan, Faag dance of Haryana, Sirmauri Naati dance of Himachal Pradesh, Gatka dance of Punjab and Siddhi Dhamaal dance of Gujarat were performed on the first day of Lokrang-2012. The folk dances of various states of India will perform in Lokrang-2012 for 11 days.
