HRPBC 2012 Best of HR Award Recipient Program: The Competitive Edge Series

Oct. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- The Human Resource Association of Palm Beach County, (HRPBC), a local affiliate of Society of Human Resource Management, (SHRM), is excited to announce that the November Competitive Edge Series will feature Senior HR Professional and Human Capital Consultant, Marilyn Durant of Durant Resources Group, Inc.  Durant, a previous recipient of the South Florida Business Journal’s Excellence in HR Awards, was the original Event Director of HRPBC’s “Water Cooler Series” which began the chapter’s outreach assisting local Human Resource professionals looking for interviewing opportunities back in 2009.  Durant, who is also a Past President of the Broward County SHRM chapter, (HRABC), will lead an interactive discussion on, “How to Work with a Recruiter as an HR Candidate” focusing on 10 secrets for maximizing opportunities that might come when engaging third party recruitment firms.

This event will be co-hosted by Michael Powers, of Corporate Benefits Advisors, LLC, in Delray on November 20th.  Powers, the 2012 HRPBC HR Award Recipient for the category of “HR Volunteer of the Year”, has been leading the Competitive Edge Series along with Durant and 12 other panelists for last 3 years.  “The collective effort of all of the Competitive Edge Panelists was equally recognized last month by our chapter’s HR awards program”, says Powers, who was presented with the award in front of a group of HR professionals and local business leaders including special guest attendees, Palm Beach County Mayor, Jeri Muoio and Florida State Representative, Ted Deutch.  

The Competitive Edge Series, a grass roots volunteer program in partnership with HRPBC, extends advanced job search tools and resources in a way that has positively impacted the local South Florida HR community.
