Oct. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- (Charleston, SC) The Meeting Room Restaurant and Tapas Bar, opening December, 2012 announces the appointment of Chef Ramon Taimanglo as the new Executive Chef and Food and Beverage Director. Chef Taimanglo will oversee all aspects of the Holiday Inn Charleston Historic Downtown's catering offerings.

Matthew Miller, General Manager of the Holiday Inn Charleston Historic Downtown, says, “Chef Ramon comes from a strong background in the culinary world. We are delighted to have him on our team. His incredible talent makes him very versatile and he has the philosophy of using fresh, local ingredients to create high quality dishes for our guests.”

Taimanglo has come to focus on the true meaning of food and enjoys the creative quality that he is able to exude in every dish he crafts. He has had the privilege of living all over the world in which he has taken influences of each culture to create his philosophy of high quality items with the freshest ingredients.

Chef Ramon's culinary career began at a young age working with his Grandmother in the garden and learning about the growth and nurturing of fresh ingredients. After attending Johnson and Wales in Charleston, South Carolina he started his professional career with Frank Lee at Slightly North of Broad in Charleston. He implemented his passion for fresh ingredients and the farm-to-table experience.

Ramon left the LowCountry for Washington, DC to work with James Beard Award Winning Chef Bob Kinkead at Colvin Run Tavern. After three years of learning and studying under Chef Kinkead and working as the Executive Sous Chef, Ramon decided to move back to the South with his wife Kerri. He furthered his career as the Executive Chef at Roosters Wood Fired Kitchen in Charlotte, North Carolina. With the mix of the seasonal products and fresh ingredients his philosophy began to take form as his own.

In 2009 Chef Taimanglo came back to Charleston and became the Executive Chef at High Cotton, one of the best known restaurants in the South. Throughout his time there he built lasting relationships with the local farmers and distributors.

"I am excited to have the opportunity to open a new restaurant in the culinary Mecca of the south. The local farmers and fisherman of the LowCountry provide incredible ingredients so I can share my passion of food through menu items," says Taimanglo.

The Meeting Room Restaurant and Tapas Bar will serve breakfast and dinner daily. Guests will enjoy items like a Beet Salad with Duck Pastrami, Frisee, Celery and Sherry Vinaigrette; Pork Shoulder with Turnips and Greens, Apple Relish and Roasted Peanut Broth; a decadent Chocolate Soufflé with Orange Caramel and Candied Orange.
