SARA’s Reward Awards Banquet – the stuff of legends

The South African Reward Association’s successful annual conference in October drew to a close with the professional body’s hosting of the Reward Awards Banquet to recognise reward industry achievers.

PRLog - Oct. 30, 2012 - The South African Reward Association’s successful annual conference in October drew to a close with the professional body’s hosting of the Reward Awards Banquet to recognise reward industry achievers. SARA was established in 1997 to create a platform for networking and the development of those responsible for reward management. It strives to ensure that its members acquire and develop the skills, confidence and passion required for the discipline.

As the South African Reward Association (SARA) celebrates its 15th year of operation, its focus still firmly on the promotion, development and empowerment of reward professionals, organisers are well aware of the many issues hovering over remuneration and human resources in general and specifically the controversy that surrounds reward management.

Following its conference, the association hosted the traditional Reward Awards Banquet during which delegates were recognised for their contribution to the reward industry as well as obtaining reward specific qualifications.

However, it was a select group of achievers who deservedly grabbed attention.

In particular: Lee-Ann Samuel, of Gold Fields recipient of the Reward Strategist of the Year award; Louis Muller, of Vodacom Group Limited as the Reward Practitioner of the Year award and Standard Bank's Sue Tosh, Graham Knowles, Paul Hopkins, Daryl Lewin, Wendy Hunkin, Aziz Hendricks, Verona Toman, Sam van Rensburg, Nicolene Mulder and Evashnie Naidoo, who took home the Team of the Year award.

The Remuneration Report Winner for 2012 was Vodacom. A new award for 2012, the President’s Award, was awarded to Professor Rob Snelgar.

Congratulating all delegates and winners, Dr Mark Bussin, SARA President, reiterated the significance of professional, dedicated reward specialists within businesses.

“We were pleased about the turnout for the conference and the success of our Reward Awards Banquet is really just the icing on the cake. We feel it is befitting of an established, respected industry body, such as ourselves, to recognise and acknowledge the efforts of those who are passionate about maintaining professional standards. There is no shortage of issues affecting reward management within business today and we are always in need of dedicated, committed individuals to serve as examples of how effective application of technology and business acumen can work for organisations,” said Dr Bussin.
