PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 29, 2012 - PHILADELPHIA (October 29, 2012) – When Citrin Cooperman (www.citrincooperman.com) partner Stanley Goldis recently took a 65 mile bike ride, you might think it was for health reasons. It was. Yet Goldis, who bikes thousands of miles per year, wasn’t doing this for his own health. This time, it was for his grandson’s.

That’s because his grandson, Yaakov Meir, suffers from Cystic Fibrosis (CF). At 3½ years old, he contends daily with symptoms of the disease including the sticky mucus that clogs his lungs and makes him prone to infection.

Goldis decided to participate in the Aptalis CF Cycle for Life, an annual event held in cities across the U.S. to raise funds for CF treatment and research. Sunday, October 14 marked the third time the event, which raised tens of thousands of dollars, has been held in Philadelphia. Goldis personally raised over $3,100 in donations from friends and co-workers.

“I look forward to a day when we can find a cure for CF and kids like Yaakov Meir can literally breathe a little easier,” said Goldis. “Participating in Cycle for Life has deep personal meaning and is a way that the staff at Citrin Cooperman can give back to the community.”

Goldis is no stranger to supporting worthy causes. He has participated in the Wheels of Love bicycle ride to benefit Jerusalem’s Alyn Hospital, a comprehensive rehabilitation center for physically challenged and disabled children, adolescents and young adults. He has also been honored by Ohr Shalom Synagogue in Ramat Beit Shemesh, Israel for his efforts to establish a permanent facility there. Recently, the Bala Cynwyd Library expressed its thanks to Goldis’ for his pro-bono time and effort to prepare the library’s non-profit tax return.

With more than 40 years of accounting, finance and business experience, Goldis provides pro-bono and volunteer support to several nonprofits. One of these is Chasdei Eliyahu, a nonprofit based in Wynnewood, Pa. Goldis helps the organization to manage its finances so that it can focus on gathering donations of furniture, clothing, kosher food, money and automobiles for members of the Greater Philadelphia community. In addition, he serves on the endowment committee for Torah Academy of Greater Philadelphia and on the board of directors for the Kohelet Yeshiva High School in Merion, Pa.

His firm regularly supports causes and organizations including the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Citrin Cooperman also provides pro-bono services to deserving nonprofits such as the Foundation for Adolescent Credit Education.
