As “Frankenstorm Sandy” hits the east coast of America, we all pray for the safety of all Americans. As we watch the storm surge and the preparation by millions of Americans all along the east coast, we can only hope that people have taken the warnings seriously and are prepared.
I am reminded of my time spent in Florida consulting with The St. Petersburg Times and living in Madeira Beach, Florida. We went through two Hurricanes while I was there. Preparation is a key to getting through the storm and the other is prayer and faith. For any of you that have gone through natural disasters or tragic events, like 9-11 or the tornado that destroyed Joplin, MO, you know firsthand that prayer and faith are so important when things turn for the worst.
When, we as mankind, have literally no control, it is up to “Mother Nature” and our faith that enable us to get through these difficult situations. Simple prayers and asking a “higher power” to save us or intervene on our behalf and keep our families safe from harm, enable us to have some sense of security. Without that faith, that everything will be okay and that you and your loved ones will be safe, what else is there?
This Motivation Monday© is a simple one.
I hope that you all stay safe and that you and your loved ones are huddled in a safe place and that you get to enjoy time together, play board games, pray, read and share stories. Situations like this provide us opportunity to reflect and unite. It also, unfortunately provides us the realization of how small we all are in the world and universe. We must cherish the things we have and the people in our lives, because when the material things are swept away or destroyed all that is left are the ones we love and our faith in God.
God Bless and God Bless America!
