Jahan-e-Khusrau, the Annual World Sufi Music Festival was launched in Delhi in 2001. Presented by Rumi Foundation, it is designed and directed by film maker- painter Muzaffar Ali.
This year Jahan-e-Khusrau, in association with the Government of Rajasthan's Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture offered a program of extraordinary diversity in the charming city of Jaipur on 27th and 28th October 2012, 6:30 pm.
Under the dynamic vision of Smt Bina Kak, Jaipur has become a city of cultural events and festivals, Jahan-e-Khusrau continued to reflect an art form that celebrates the rich synergistic traditions of the sub artists performing this year at Jahan-e-Khusrau Jaipur, were - Abida Parveen (Pakistan), Whirling Dervishes (Turkey), Shafaqat Ali Khan (Pakistan), Zia Nath (Indian modern dancer).
Each year Jahan-e-Khusrau presents rare lyrics of Sufi mystics in an innovative form. Over the last decade it has showcased Sufi singers, dancers and musicians from different parts of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Iran, Israel, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Italy, Sudan, Egypt, Greece, Germany, Japan, USA and Canada. The festival has been presenting masters such as Shubha Mudgal, Shafqat Ali Khan, Ila Arun, Sukhwinder Singh, Malavika Sarrukai, Shujaat Hussain Khan and Abida Parveen amongst many others.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Muzaffar Ali said that one of our most important objectives for this festival had been to create a bridge between the East and the West and make the audience realize its universal-ism and develop new audiences for global Sufi music.
Rumi foundation in collaboration with the House of Kotwara also publishes HU- the Sufi way, a poetry oriented publication dedicated to Sufi mysticism of different regions of India.
