Les Miserables is redesigned with new staging and exquisite updated scenery directly inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. A new set, new costumes, and new directions all add to the drama while maintaining the integrity of the original production.

The show is now the longest currently running musical in the world. Over 60 million people have seen Les Miserables in 43 countries. The musical has been performed professionally an astonishing 47,000 times. For those who haven’t seen it, now is a prime chance. And for those who have seen the show before, seeing it again will be worth it for the outstanding cast of players and the updated staging, set, and costumes.

The New York Times has called the 25th anniversary show “an unquestionably spectacular production from start to finish.” While the London Times raves that it’s “A five star hit, astonishingly powerful.” Some critics have actually called the new production better than the original. The revision made an attempt to tell the original story of struggle during the French Revolution more clearly and allow the characters to be more gritty and real.

Fans of the original productions shouldn’t be worried, though: the revised edition has Schonberg’s spectacular original score with all of the beloved songs. Classics like “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Stars,” and “Do You Hear The People Sing?” will be sung by a phenomenal cast, including Andrew Varela, Peter Lockyer, Lauren Wiley, Max Quinlan, Betsy Morgan, Shawna M. Hamac, and others.

Watch the musical that inspired to forthcoming movie, that’s due out on Christmas Day. Tickets are available online from Ticketmaster. This is a truly exciting opportunity to see an international classic at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago.
